Welcome & Activation Benefits
As an entry-level card designed specifically for defence personnel, the Pride Platinum Credit Card is structured as a Zero Joining Fee card. Consequently, it does not offer high-value “Welcome Vouchers” or “Activation Gift Cards” that are typically associated with high-fee premium cards.
However, new cardholders can benefit from the following activation-linked perks:
- 100 Bonus EDGE REWARD Points: Cardholders often receive a one-time bonus of 100 points upon the completion of their first online transaction within the first 30 days of card issuance.
- Monthly Reward Accelerator: While not a “welcome” benefit in the traditional sense, the card offers an ongoing activation incentive: if you spend more than ₹5,000 in a month, you earn an additional 100 EDGE REWARD points for that billing cycle.
- Dining Delights Activation: The 15% discount (up to ₹500) via the EazyDiner/Dining Delights program is available immediately upon card activation, requiring no waiting period or minimum spend history.
- Zero First-Year Fee: The most significant “welcome” perk is the total waiver of the first year’s annual fee, providing the card to defence personnel at no cost for the initial 12 months.
CARD REVIEW
The Axis Bank Pride Platinum Credit Card is an entry-level offering tailored specifically for the Indian Defence community. Its primary appeal lies in its symbolic design and the fact that it is accessible without any joining fees. For service members looking for their first credit card or a simple tool for daily expenses, this card provides decent value through its fuel surcharge waivers and dining discounts.
Value for money is high because the annual fee waiver requirement of ₹40,000 is very low compared to other cards. However, its limitations are clear: it lacks travel perks like airport lounge access and the reward accumulation rate is modest. It is best suited for defence personnel who want a card that reflects their profession while providing basic financial benefits and a low cost of ownership.
